How to Crochet Cherries (Cherry Keychain)

What you need

• Red yarn for the cherries and green yarn for the stems and leaf
• A crochet hook to suit your yarn
• A little fibre stuffing
• A key ring or bag clip
• Scissors and a yarn needle

Step by step

1. With red yarn, make a magic ring and work 6 single crochet into it. Pull it tight.
2. Increase: 2 single crochet in every stitch (12 stitches), then *1 single crochet, 2 single crochet in the next* all round (18 stitches).
3. Work 2 or 3 rounds of single crochet without increasing to make the ball round.
4. Decrease back down (*1 single crochet, decrease* all round, then decrease all round), stuffing the cherry firmly before it closes.
5. Fasten off, thread the tail through the last stitches and pull it shut. Make a second cherry the same way.
6. Stems: with green yarn, chain a length and slip stitch back along it. Make one stem per cherry and sew each to the top of a cherry.
7. Join the two stems at the top, add a small green leaf, and attach a key ring or bag clip.

Tips

• A slightly smaller hook than usual keeps the stuffing from showing through.
• Work both cherries with the same number of rounds so they match.
