How to Crochet a Rose Keychain

What you need

• Red (or any colour) yarn for the rose and green yarn for the leaves
• A crochet hook to suit your yarn
• A key ring
• Scissors and a yarn needle

Step by step

1. Chain a long base: the longer the chain, the bigger the rose.
2. Work a row into the chain to make spaces for the petals, for example (double crochet, chain 1, double crochet) in every other chain.
3. Work the petals: a shell of several double crochet into each space along the row.
4. Roll the strip from one end into a spiral, keeping the petals facing outwards.
5. Stitch through the base with the yarn tail to hold the rose together.
6. Crochet one or two small green leaves and sew them under the rose, then attach the key ring.

Tips

• Roll tightly at the centre and more loosely towards the outside for a natural rose.
• Leave a long tail before fastening off; you will need it to sew the rose.
