Easy Crochet Flower for Beginners

What you need

• Brown (or any) yarn for the centre and red (or any) yarn for the petals
• A crochet hook to suit your yarn
• Pearl beads or buttons for the centres
• Scissors and a yarn needle
• Optional: a crochet or ready-made basket and green filler for a bouquet

Step by step

1. With the centre colour, make a magic ring and work a round of single crochet into it. Join with a slip stitch and pull the ring tight.
2. Change to the petal colour and join it with a slip stitch.
3. Make a petal: chain a few stitches, work a group of taller stitches (double crochet) into the next stitch, chain the same number and slip stitch into the following stitch.
4. Repeat around the centre to make five or six even petals, then join and fasten off.
5. Sew or glue a pearl into the middle of the flower and weave in the ends.
6. For a bouquet, make several flowers and arrange them closely in a basket with green filler.

Tips

• Use the same number of stitches in every petal so the flower is even.
• Sew the pearl on with the yarn tail so it can't fall off.
